06/09/2008 Test flight

I received a test flight in a small aircraft as a Father's Day present this year from Elizabeth and Andrew. When we arrived at Henlow Airfield we discovered that, for a small fee, Anna and Elizabeth could "come fly with me". We had nearly an hour in the air altogether, and the photos below show us and where we went.Myself and "Peter the Pilot", a teddy that formed part of my present.
The three of us in front of the four-seater Cessna.
Ready to go!

The three passengers in the back seats.
Over Biggleswade.
Potton seen from the plane.
Myself at the controls.
Over Grafham Water.
Up above the clouds.
Our street.
And the house in close-up.
Central Potton.

September 4/5 2008 - Houghton Mill campsite, Cambridgeshire

This was our first trip out in the campervan which we bought this summer. Despite the constant rain on the Friday, which allowed us to get a lot of reading and card-playing done, it was very enjoyable. Photos include: us in an around the van; the mill at Houghton, apparently the only surviving mill on the River Great Ouse; interesting buildings in Houghton/Wyton village; a Vulcan which flew very low over us on several occasions on the Thursday evening - a bit of internet research suggests it may be the only Vulcan currently flying; and a Swallow which was tending three nestlings in a nest in the roof of the toilet block - they may well be in Africa by now.
